My Favorite Online Disney Things

 Hello World!

As a kick-off to this blog, I'd just like to do a few posts which will help you get to know me a little faster. I feel like no Disney Blog of mine would be complete without sharing a few of my favorite online things. I have compiled some of my absolute favorite finds, so read on and share some of your own as well!

The Disney Blog

The Disney Blog is where I turn for my news. My Disney news that is. But seriously this one of the sites I visit daily. I found it several years ago, but in like the last year I have been visiting frequently. The blog is well-rounded for a your Disney news. You'll read updates about the Fantasyland expansion one day, an ABC TV show review the next, and then speculations on the growth of the company the next. Talk about an exhaustive news source!

DTunes Radio

One of the things I always miss about the Disney Parks is the music, not just the from the movies or Broadway music, but specifically the background music from when you're walking through the parks. If you're like me, then you'll love Dtuneslive.com. You do need a membership, but it's free and then you can listen to one of the 8 different channels online whenever you want.

Virtual Magic Kingdom

Virtual Magic Kingdom is now closed, but fans of the virtual lands have created VMKRevisted, which allows you to at least "walk through" the game. You get to hear the music and see the awesome graphics again. It's not quite the same, but it is still very fun!
Virtual versions of Haunted Mansion, Sleeping Beauty's Castle, even Storybookland

 YouTube Disney Covers

I feel like these videos will speak sing for themselves...

On Pinterest

I am positive that no one is surprised that I have a Disney themed board on Pinterest. It's one of my favorite boards to update too! Jump onto Pinterest and do a search on "Disney." I'm sure you'll have a hard time not smiling. For more Disney boards to follow check out this Pinterest article at The Disney Blog.

As I'm editing this article I am already thinking of some more of my favorite online Disney things. Perhaps I'll include them in a post in the future. Leave me a comment and share some of your online Disney finds as well!

Outskirts of the Kingdom: Life Updates

I have had an interesting two weeks. Or three or four. Two weeks ago I was on Spring Break in beautiful, sunny South Florida (no Disney unfortunately) touring with the Purduettes, the choir I am in at Purdue University. It was a great trip, and I returned to campus exhausted from all the shows. I returned wanting more than anything to start working on this blog, since all I can think about is Disney!

This is the World

Hello world! And welcome to my Disney-centric blog, Kingdom Hopping. I will be moving down to Lake Buena Vista, FL in September to complete the Disney College Program, so this blog will follow my experiences and will hopefully be a good resource for other college students who wish to try it as well. But I want this to be more than just a Disney CP blog. I have been to Walt Disney World so many times that I already have lots of things to share about Disney and the parks, like how to get the most out of your experiences, how to drink around the world at EPCOT, and which resorts/pools are the best for pool hopping.

I chose the name Kingdom Hopping because when I get to the Parks I cannot sit still. I have to do at least 2 parks in a day and pool time and maybe a water park. My personal claim to fame (for myself at least) is that I went to all 4 parks and one water park in one day. And I had to drive 2 hours home to West Palm Beach, FL afterwards. Believe me. I was exhausted for work the next day, but luckily it was mostly a desk job, so I was off my feet most of my shift.

I plan on letting this blog kind of take form by itself, but I've already tried to separate it into just a few categories. Guarding the World (what it's like being a Disney Lifeguard), Life in the Kingdom (specifics about the Disney CP), Hopping around the World (my advice/experience in the parks), Outskirts of the Kingdom (life before/after the CP and literally outside of the Kingdom), and of course everything else will just be...well everything else.

I hope you find something that interests you while you're reading my blog. If you do please leave me a comment and let me know! And if you don't, well let me know what would interest you!

Much Affection,
Julie

This is part Disney blog, part my experience during the Disney College Program, so I suppose it is essential that I add some more information about myself, the Disney bloggette!

My name is Julie, I'm 21 years old, and I will graduate from Purdue University with a Bachelors of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management this coming May. I cannot wait for graduation. I have adored college. I love being a college student, the "studying," partying, meeting great people, and have some amazing responsibilities, but I am very ready to move on to some of my other dreams.
That's me and my cat, Frankie.
After graduation in May, I will move home to Indianapolis for a few months, and then in September I'm moving to the Kingdom to complete my first Disney College Program (CP). The Magic Kingdom. In Walt Disney World. And I am so pumped! I am a huge fan of  anything Disney, specifically Walt Disney World. I can thank my mom for that love. My mom and I have been taking road trips to Florida by ourselves since I was in high school to visit family and also the Kingdom along the way. Because of our frequent Disney trips, my mom became a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) member and now we both enjoy all the perks that go along with that.

I have wanted to do the Disney CP since before high school and have been doing research on it for just as long. I actually considered going to a smaller university, just so my chances of getting into the program would be better. I would've hated a smaller university, but that just shows you how badly I have wanted this.

For those who need a little more information on the Disney College Program: The Disney CP has been around since 1985, and it gives college students a chance to work for a well known company, Disney. They promote it saying that it's a great addition to any students resume. The internships are a semester long and can be complete after a college student has completed one semester in college and as late as the semester after graduation, like me! I am participating in the Fall program. My arrival date is September 5 and departure date is January 5 and I will be working as a lifeguard. My dream is to get a professional internship after my program, so that I can get experience in something much more relevant to my degree.

If you have any other questions about the Disney College Program check out the official website or ask me! If I don't know, I can still probably point you in the right direction.
